New keywords to track; PSA; Finding > Marketing; Let's get this tattoo
Hi there, A lot happened in the domain name industry while I was gone on vacation for the past few weeks:
Here are the most interesting 5️⃣ domain tweets from last week. Have a great week, Mike P.S. I publish my best posts and opinions in Cyger Says every Friday morning. #1️⃣ New keywords to track
Orange and Quantum. Two words I’ve been monitoring very closely.
New Raise 🏛️ Company: Orange Quantum Systems 🔗 Website: orangeqs.com 📊 Amount: €12 Million 🔄 Round: Seed 🧮 Valuation: N/A ⚙️ Industry: Technology
Like every good domain name investor, I keep a list of words that I like to track. It was fellow @DNAcademy co-instructor Keith DeBoer @BrandableInsidr that taught me position of the keywords matters too. Sometimes a word can go in either location of a two-word .com, but sometimes it must go in only one location. For example, you'd never put "the" in the second position of a two-word .com domain name. So when @JoshDotCo mentions he's starting to track a couple of new words, I take notice and start tracking them myself. #2️⃣ PSA
For your own safety and peace of mind, I highly recommend never to use Sav. They're one of the poor registrars and not trustworthy as well.
I hate to confirm this, but I see similar issues as Serkan and AbdulBasit. I do like @UseSav for their $10.50 backorders of .com domain names that I want but that I expect to have zero competition on. They do a good job for that. So, like everything in life, use the right tool for the job. There's no one tool (or registrar) that does everything 100% to your liking. You need to try them all, learn from others, and use the best tool for the job. #3️⃣ AI/ML in name
Why add AI/ML to your product name? No one says 'PHP-based' or 'PostgreSQL-powered' for a reason. Users don’t care about tech stack. It's a pointless flex.
Paul brings up a good point. Many in the domain name investing community believe that in a few years AI might be so ubiquitous that it might become passé to use it in the name. During the dot-com bubble around the year 2000, it was common for startups to adopt domain names starting with "e" (for "electronic", like eGain.com and eToys.com) or "i" (for "internet" or "information", like iWon.com). Many of these companies received significant funding and media attention, and we do not see this naming/branding trend any longer. Will all of the companies using .ai or *AI.com change in the future? Or is this a naming/branding change that will stick around for decades? #4️⃣ Finding > Marketing

Nowadays acquiring a potential name at reasonable price tougher than selling a name... I'd say invest your 90% time to Find & Acquire domain name. Rest 10% time is Listing your name with competitive price.
This meme hit home with me. I'm back to searching ExpiredDomains.net on a daily basis because I'm part of the @DNAcademy$500 Investor Challenge. And even with my stellar list of search filters, most days I do not find investable quality domain names in @GoDaddyAuctions Closeouts. It's easy to find great names and overpay for them. It's hard to find and acquire great names at reasonable prices. 🤣 Let's get this tattoo Love this AI artwork! It made me think of my post, and I hope I inspired @Aaron_Sander's post (but doubt it).
