.ai math; Greatest feeling; Afternic upgrade; Atom Chrome extension; Valuation options
Hi there, Innovation is happening in the industry. Somedays it doesn't seem so. But I highlighted improvements from Afternic, Atom and a whole bunch of smaller companies and individuals trying to make a difference in the industry. Oh, and @helloIamWilly just launched CSV.domains, a free tool that allows you to import your portfolio and then bulk edit and download it in other formats. Currently supports @Afternic, @Sedo, and @Spaceship. Give it a try and DM him feedback. (All the processing is done in your browser, so it's secure.) Here are the most interesting 5️⃣ domain tweets from last week. Have a great week, Mike P.S. I publish my best posts and opinions in Cyger Says every Friday morning. #1️⃣ .ai math
Let’s run some simple math on .ai domains. If your renewal cost is $70/year and your STR (sell-through rate) is 1% - a conservative industry average -you need to sell your domains for at least $7,000 net just to break even. That’s a 0% return. Can you make big sales with .ai domains? Yes. Will your portfolio be profitable? That depends on your average selling price and your STR.
Typical domain name investor profitability hinges on achieving average sales prices in the "sweet spot" around $2,500 per domain. But Giuseppe challenges the narrative of investing in .ai domains by highlighting the need for sales above $7,000 to offset costs. Do the math. #2️⃣ Greatest feeling
I finally did it. When you're a kid on the internet, the instinct is simple: type your name followed by .com. And suddenly you’re staring at someone else who has your name...and your domain! Who is this person? Why do they have it? What are they doing with it? And then the thought: maybe one day I’ll get it. In my case, the other Rory was a public speaker using the site to bring in work, and he had no interest in selling. What started as middle school curiosity turned into a yearly check-in. For ~13 years, I sent a polite (and if you know me, persistent) message asking if he’d sell. Eventually, he sold it - to someone else! It’s a little silly, a little vain, and definitely a fun fact, but today, I’m happy to share that I finally bought it. But mostly, it makes my younger self smile. And I know there are other Rorys out there, just like I was, typing it in, wondering, “Who is this guy?”, “Why does it go to some company called @KnotAPIs?” And of course, “Maybe one day I’ll have it.” And just like the Rory before me, my answer to all Rorys is: Thanks, but no. ![]()
This is the greatest feeling. I hand registered Cyger.org in 1999 and have been very happy with that. A decade later, I acquired Cyger.com, which is nice for defensive purposes (and when people screw up and send me email there instead of the .org). I heard @BradenPollock say he recently bought Pollock.org on a @DomainSherpa episode. It's a great feeling to own your own name. #3️⃣ Afternic upgrade

Nice upgrade for domain name investors by @Afternic. Just wanted to make you aware of it. #4️⃣ Atom Chrome extension
I've been using it with some of my daily ExpiredDomains.net searches. It's a nice and quick check of certain domains. Again, wanted to make you aware of it. #5️⃣ Valuation options
My cat knows our Cost.com is worth seven-figures. Let's hear from the pros: Agent AI: 2-5M Humbleworth: 2.5M Domain Dingo: 2M SAW: 1.9M EZTC: 1-2 M EstiBot: 917K Graen: 302K Dynadot: 114K PC Domains: 39K
I'm missing a funny meme for this week. I think the industry needs to pick up the meme pace, please. In its place, I have selected what could have been a funny cat meme. But what I found interesting is the plethora of domain name valuation engines we have in our industry. 9 of them. A good friend of mine has a new one coming out soon. Looking forward to seeing how his compares.
