Phishing literacy; Finding backlinks to domains; Wrong tool for the job; My domains aren't; Marketplace race
Hi there, This newsletter is jam-packed with useful information. But pay particular attention to the second post from Youssef. He provides a useful tool that's new to me in finding a list of domain names that are redirecting to a website. I'm going to use it in outbounding my VegasBankruptcyLawyers.com this week. 🤞 it helps and I can generate some interest (which has not happened yet). Here are the most interesting 5️⃣ domain tweets from last week. Have a great week, Mike P.S. I publish my best posts and opinions in Cyger Says every Friday morning. #1️⃣ Phishing literacy
I’m getting loads of this fake emails @GoDaddy be careful not to click on any ![]()
For those who are unsure if a Godaddy email is real, check the top. The real ones use your name and customer number. ![]()
Investors must be educated on how registrars officially communicate to help them recognize legitimate messages and avoid falling victim to phishing attempts. I like how @GoDaddy includes my name and customer number. @Unstoppableweb says that you can include a 6-15 character anti-phishing code that they'll include in their emails to you. #2️⃣ Finding backlinks to domains
Most companies don’t want to change their main domain, that’s OK. 99% don’t realize they can redirect keyword-rich domains to boost SEO, traffic & branding. 💡Educate Show Convert Video 🎥 in comments
This is a great tip by Youssef. I'm participating in the @DNAcademy $500 challenge and currently doing outbound marketing for VegasBankruptcyLawyers.com. To demonstrate the value of buying domain names as redirects to a main website, I'm going to use this tool to identify domains that are currently forwarding to competitors' websites. This allows me to show potential buyers how acquiring and redirecting VegasBankruptcyLawyers.com can be an effective marketing strategy for increasing web traffic and brand visibility — and that their competitors are doing it right now. Using the tool, I found one site using bankruptcylawfirm.vegas. #3️⃣ Wrong tool for the job
2 mistakes domain investors make over and over 1. Using LLMs (aka Next-Token Predictive Transformers) to estimate domain prices. It's a regression problem, not generative. 2. Hindsight bias, aka "I should've held on and sold for more" There is no cure that I've seen.
Domain price estimation is a regression problem requiring predictive modeling. LLMs generate text output (next-token prediction), and they are not built for numerical accuracy. I talked about this issue in one of my recent @CygerSays emails as well. #4️⃣ My domains aren't 💩
Everybody has shitty domains and some will eventually sell .
Rigo nailed it here. I'm always amazed when I see domains sell that I didn't anticipate. "Shitty" is in the eye of the beholder. #5️⃣ Marketplace race

I was thinking the same thing as MediaWizard. Everyone is talking about their new and improved sales landing pages or marketplaces. While it is great to be able to customize the for-sale page you use for your domains, I do wonder how much of a difference it actually makes. In the end, distribution (eyes on your domains) is probably what makes the biggest difference.
